Executive Committee Member
Abbie Barrow is a founding member of The Girls’ Agenda and serves in the executive leadership team of the organization. She has almost a decade of experience in development work and has engaged with children, women, the elderly, local politicians and foreign development workers directly in the non-government and through partnership in the government sector.
She is a strong advocate for girls and women sexual and reproductive health and rights. Previously, she served as Community Health Promoter of the Nova-Scotia Gambia Association, a non-profit group promoting adolescent health in schools and communities for five years.
Over the years, she has partnered with diverse groups such as the Network against Gender-Based Violence, Action Aid International-The Gambia and Catholic Relief Service on development projects and researches on women and girls’ human rights.
She holds a bachelors’ degree in Social Services focusing on Community Development from the Diaconia University of Applied Sciences in Finland, and a Diploma in Social work from the University of The Gambia. While studying in Finland, Abbie supported the Network against Gender-Based Violence to raise funds in Finland for projects in The Gambia.
