The Girls’ Agenda is a registered non-profit young women-led organization established in 2011 by the young and for the young. The pioneers of the organization are young women who have faced some sort of gender-based discrimination. These experiences have turned them into passionate and committed individuals who strive to promote the advancement of the rights and wellbeing of girls and women.
For the past years, the organization has been actively involved in youth-led initiatives and worked in the field of women and children’s rights mostly in rural communities. The Girls’ Agenda has been engaged in awareness creation and advocacy on promoting the sexual and reproductive health rights and concerns of girls and women by demanding for investments in health and education of girls, elimination of sexual violence, and combating harmful traditional practices such as female genital mutilation (FGM) and arranged, forced or child marriages, among others. The organization also provides mentorship and leadership training for girls and young women and seeks to change the existing gender inequalities that disadvantage girls and women in our families and communities.
