Isatou Jallow volunteers as the Partnership Officer of The Girls’ Agenda. She is a passionate youth and women’s rights advocate and has over the years served in various capacities in groups that empower young people and promote education including the Social Science and Humanities Association of the University of The Gambia.
She works with the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education as Senior Assistant Secretary, participating in initiatives and projects that promote girls’ education and empower them with skills to enhance their self-esteem and desire to pursue higher education. She supports the ministry in promoting its re-entry policy for girls who are survivors of unplanned pregnancies to go back to school upon delivery.
As a survivor of FGM at a very tender age, Isatou dedicated herself to reject all forms of violence against girls and women including harmful practices such as FGM. She joins The Girls’ Agenda as an interested women’s rights activist and supports the organization in promoting girls’ education and leading the mentorship program for girls and young women. She has a Bachelors’ degree in Political Science and Development Studies from the University of The Gambia.
