Executive Committee Member

Fatou Ceesay is a social worker currently working with Sovereign Hospice in Atlanta, Georgia. She is a founding member of The Girls’ Agenda and serves in the executive leadership team of the organization. She has almost a decade of experience in development work and has engaged with children, women, and the elderly.

Before immigrating to the United States, Fatou worked with Nova Scotia Gambia Association for five years as a Community Trainer where trained youth groups, communities and school children on Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights, Sexual Education, Malaria and HIV/AIDS.

As a child and human rights activist, Fatou has worked with House of Dawn, an Atlanta based organization as an Intern Case Worker where assisted homeless teenage mothers access educational opportunities and life skills needed to become self-supporting and independent women in society. Fatou has also worked with Wellspring Living as a Clinical Intern where she supported minor sex trafficking survivors and at-risk youth with therapeutic services to develop the courage to move forward and have self-confidence to succeed.

She earned a Master of Science in Social Work from Georgia State University and a Bachelor of Arts in International Development Studies from the University of The Gambia. Fatou’s dedication and service to humanity has earned her recognitions including the Jean Child Young Fellowship Outstanding Academic Award by Georgia State University in 2017 and the United Kingdom International Award for Young People Gold and Silver Holder Awards in 2009 and 2008 respectively.
