Isatou Jeng is a founding member of The Girls’ Agenda and currently volunteers as the Program Manager of the organization. She leads the program management team and provides technical support in the implementation of projects and activities geared towards advancing the lives of girls and women. She is a fierce feminist and women’s human rights defender who champions the human rights of girls and women in her country, The Gambia.
Isatou has seven years of experience in women’s rights advocacy and has over the years worked in vast areas of human rights such as the protection of the health and rights of girls and women as the insurance of their civic and equal participation in the governance of their communities. She previously served as the Advocacy and Campaign Officer of the Network against Gender Based Violence, a consortium of organizations working on the protection of the rights of women and girls in The Gambia.
She has participated in different programs and activities through which she engaged with both the youth and the elderly on issues of sexual and reproductive health and rights of girls and women, specifically on the campaign to promote girls’ education, eradicate child marriage and female genital mutilation. With these experiences, she support in initiating innovative and impactful programs and activities that are changing the lives of girls and young women the organization serve.
Isatou earned her Bachelors’ degree in Political Science from the University of The Gambia.
